Remembering Chet Bauermeister
Basin City residents and around 200 firefighters from around the state gathered July 3 to honor Franklin Fire District 4 Chief Chet Bauermeister with their annual 4th of July parade, followed with a memorial service at Basin City Memorial Park. More than 500 gathered to honor the fire chief, who died June 23 when his ATV flipped and rolled about 100 feet down a steep slope while he was helping to fight a brush fire.
